Partnering with Heron Power to Reimagine the Electric Grid

This title was summarized by AI from the post below.

Honored and excited to partner with Drew Baglino and the incredible team at Heron Power as they re-imagine the electric grid for the modern world. Power in America is not zero sum. We deserve access to cheap and abundant electricity and we should win the AI race. And we must build the capacity to manufacture critical technology here at home. When faced with existential challenges, we deploy technology against them. And we win.

Heron Power has raised $140 million in Series B financing, co-led by Andreessen Horowitz and Breakthrough Energy. We’re excited to welcome a16z to the Heron investor coalition and to use this capital to deploy projects with partners and build one of the world’s largest power electronics factories right here in the United States. As our CEO Drew Baglino said: “Too much of today’s electrical infrastructure is clunky equipment designed decades ago. We’re manifesting an alternative future — where modern power electronics enable projects to come online faster, the grid to operate more reliably, and scale affordably.” Electricity demand is accelerating — driven by AI compute, electrification, and the rebuilding of American industry. But much of today’s grid infrastructure is passive equipment designed decades ago. We’re building something different. Heron Link replaces bulky, long-lead-time legacy transformers with modular, software-integrated solid-state power electronics, purpose-built for modern solar, storage, and data center projects. The result: faster deployment, higher reliability, and a more affordable path to grid expansion. Over the past year, we demonstrated our first product in the lab and built strong early momentum with customers representing nearly 50GW of potential demand. This financing allows us to accelerate pilot deployments, move decisively toward Heron Factory 1, and scale U.S. manufacturing capacity. Thank you to our partners, customers, and team for building with us. Erin Price-Wright, David T.
