Last week, I heard from a super impressive customer who has cracked the code on how to give salespeople something they’ve always wanted: more selling time. Here’s how he transformed their process. This customer runs the full B2B sales motion at an awesome printing business based in the U.S. For years, his team divided their time across six key areas: 1. Task prioritization 2. Meeting prep 3. Customer responses 4. Prospecting 5. Closing deals 6. Sales strategy Like every sales leader I know, he wants his team to spend most of their time on #5 and #6 — closing deals and sales strategy. But together, those only made up about 30% of their week. (Hearing this gave me flashbacks to my time in sales…and all that admin tasks 😱) Now, his team uses AI across the sales process to compress the amount of time spent on #1-4: 1. Task prioritization → AI scores leads and organizes daily tasks 2. Meeting prep → AI surfaces insights from calls and contact records before meetings 3. Customer responses → Breeze Customer Agent instantly answers customer questions 4. Prospecting → Breeze Prospecting Agent automatically researches accounts and books meetings The result? Higher quantity of AI-powered work: More prospecting. More pipeline. Higher quality of human-led work: More thoughtful conversations. Sharper strategy. This COO's story made my week. It's a reminder of just how big a shift we're going through – and why it’s such an exciting time to be in go-to-market right now.

"Fire your best salesperson." That's what I told the CEO The room went silent The board members stared in disbelief This "star performer" was generating 22% of their revenue How could I suggest something so reckless? Because after analyzing 10 years of sales data across 50+ companies, I've discovered a devastating pattern: → Your highest-performing individual is often your greatest barrier to sustainable growth Let me explain 6 months ago, a mid-market tech company brought me in Their situation: - Revenue growth: stalled at 7% - Sales team: 23 people - One superstar: closing 4x the average rep On the surface? Textbook success story But when we dug deeper, we found something alarming This top performer had: - Built a completely separate sales process - Hoarded the best leads - Created zero documentation - Trained no one on their methods - Demanded special commission structures The company wasn't scaling It was being held hostage We made the agonizing decision to part ways with this "irreplaceable" rep The immediate drop was brutal Revenue dipped 18% in the first month But then something extraordinary happened We reverse-engineered what actually made this person successful (hint: it wasn't what everyone thought) We built a standardized playbook around those insights By month 4: - Overall team performance: up 40% - New rep ramp time: down 50% - Forecasting accuracy: improved by 70% - Customer satisfaction: increased 20% Today, they're growing at 30% year-over-year With predictability With consistency This isn't about sabotaging individual excellence This is about transforming personal genius into organizational intelligence The painful truth? Your "rockstars" often keep you dependent on heroic efforts rather than scalable systems P.S. If you need help with your sales, send me a message

Old School vs. New School sales teams. With 15M+ B2B sales teams globally, we're seeing a shift. Old school: - Simple team structure: AEs and more SDRs - Overpaying for outdated tools - Great sales fundamentals New school: - Often have RevOps or GTM engineers - Consistently testing out new tools - Obsess on process Here's are the tech stack changes I'm seeing: - CRM: Salesforce → HubSpot (don't need a CRM admin to make changes) - TAM Sourcing: ZoomInfo → DiscoLike (find any company with a website) - Data Handling: Excel → Clay (AI spreadsheet linked to data sources) - Global Email Coverage: Apollo → Findymail (better coverage + accuracy + price) - Global Phone Coverage: Cognism → BetterContact (best-in-class coverage + connect rates) - Email Campaigns: Mail Merge → Instantly.ai (where do I even start) - DM Campaigns: Sales Nav → HeyReach.io (automating signal-based plays) - Micro Campaigns: Mailchimp → Landbase (AI-first at every step) - Dialer: RingCentral → Trellus (YC W22) (purpose-built sales dialer) - Call Recording: Manual Notes → Modjo (AI notetakers are a must-have in 2025) Give an old school team new school systems. That's a force to be reckoned with.

My sense is that time is ripe for it a pragmatic advisory for pipeline development. Not outsourcing, not BCG or McKinsey repackaging Mary Lou Tyler, but a real operational model focusing on the inherent failings in outbound in 2025. Why now? For years, outbound sales development has been treated as a volume game—measured in activity, not outcomes. But as markets get noisier and buying behaviors shift, predictable revenue models have started to break down. I Have spent years working on this problem, observing firsthand how TOF selling lacked the adaptability and precision found in modern operational frameworks - having sat close to 700+ sales transformations in 5 years and observing why virtually all of them have failed somehow. The breakthrough was applying agile execution—continuous iteration, real-time feedback, and structured compensation alignment—to transform outbound from a guessing game into a predictable system. It’s the most significant shift in TOF sales since Predictable Revenue, and it’s solving the pipeline problem that tech-first approaches have failed to fix. If your team isn’t consistently generating high-quality pipeline, or if outbound feels too reactive and inefficient, let’s connect. I’d be happy to walk through how we help teams bloated by tech and management burden implement a scalable, predictable system for growth. PipelineOS isn’t a tool—it’s a system for execution. We bring an agile, data-driven approach to outbound by: Embedding Agile into Sales Execution – Treating outbound as a structured, iterative process that continuously improves through rapid feedback loops. Aligning Compensation with Execution – Moving beyond static quotas to models that reward speed, efficiency, and conversion quality. Eliminating Bottlenecks at TOF – Providing clear playbooks and real-time execution insights so leadership can diagnose and correct gaps before they impact pipeline Help you maximise and engineer better use cases and system adoption of your tech investments Teach leaders how to lead in this system of excellence.

AI is transforming productivity across industries but sales is still a frontier waiting to be unlocked. Bain & Company’s research shows that while generative and agentic AI are already freeing up hours of work in marketing and operations, adoption in sales is lagging behind. That’s surprising, because sales is one of the most time-intensive, high-impact functions and even small conversion gains can deliver outsized business results. For CMOs, CROs, and GTM leaders, the opportunity is clear: use AI to give sellers back time, improve decision-making, and boost win rates. And here’s what often gets overlooked: buyer-group expansion and engagement are two of the most powerful drivers of those win rates. The more effectively teams can identify, engage, and influence the full buying committee- the CIO, the CFO, the head of engineering, security, procurement- the greater the likelihood of advancing and winning deals. AI can now do this at a scale and speed that simply wasn’t possible before. AI in sales isn’t about replacing people, it’s about equipping them with better tools. The organisations that act early will be the ones to capture the biggest gains. At Thoughtworks, we’ve been actively working toward this vision. Our award-winning PerformanceAI agent removes the need for sales and marketing teams to click through endless dashboards and instead delivers insights in plain English, on demand. Less time on analysis and more time on insight and action. We’re also reducing manual work through automation, from data entry to intelligence orchestration. We’ve invested in tooling that mines sellers’ conversations across voice, email, and calendar to extract key signals, map the buying group, and match insights to the right accounts and opportunities. And in the AI era, adoption in sales has become much simpler. The technology runs quietly in the background rather than becoming another system sellers need to feed. When human input is needed, we’re moving toward a voice-first experience so no navigating complex CRM interfaces, and sellers can make updates on the go right after a client meeting. How is your team approaching AI in sales today? Let me know in the comments.

If you’re at a Series B company, you’ve probably already tried: • Enablement sessions • Documentation • Office hours • “Please log your data” reminders And yet… → Pipeline still looks unreliable. → Forecast reviews still turn into debates. → Reps still update Salesforce after the deal moves. That’s not a discipline issue. That’s friction. Before you add more training... ask yourself: • Does a rep need 10+ clicks to do a basic task? • Are they entering fields that no one actually uses? • Are they jumping between Salesforce, docs, proposal tools, and email just to move one deal forward? If the answer is yes... Salesforce feels like tax, not leverage. Annnnnd people avoid tax 😐 Here’s what most scaling tech teams miss: People don’t adopt tools. They adopt shortcuts. If logging data: • Slows them down • Interrupts momentum • Feels disconnected from closing deals They will delay it, batch it, or skip it entirely... no matter how good the training is. High-performing tech companies flip the equation. They design Salesforce so that: • The fastest path is the correct path • The easiest action is the right one • Updating the CRM happens as a byproduct of selling Examples: • Fewer required fields, but better ones • Automation that updates stages, dates, and tasks • 1 click actions instead of manual busywork When the system does more of the work, reps stop resisting it. And something interesting happens: → Data quality improves → Forecasts stabilize → Managers stop chasing updates → Sales actually trusts the system So if Salesforce adoption is low, don’t start with training... Start with this question: “What is the least amount of effort required for a rep to move a deal forward?” Then design everything around that. Fix the system 1st and then adoption takes care of itself.

The Sales Revolution is Here (And It's Not What You Think) Most sales teams are stuck in 2020, treating AI like a fancy autocomplete. The reality? We're moving from copilot to autopilot. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗺: → AI agents that prospect 24/7 → Personalized outreach at scale → Automated meeting scheduling → Lead qualification while you focus on closing I've been watching this shift accelerate. The companies embracing agentic AI aren't just gaining efficiency, they're fundamentally changing how sales operate. 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲'𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗜'𝗺 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴: • 300% increase in qualified leads • 85% reduction in manual prospecting time • Pipeline velocity that compounds daily • Sales reps focusing on relationship-building, not data entry The uncomfortable truth: If your sales process still requires manual lead research and one-by-one email drafting, you're already behind. By 2026, agentic sales systems won't be competitive, they'll be table stakes. The question isn't whether AI will transform sales. It's whether you'll lead the transformation or get left behind explaining declining numbers to stakeholders. What's your take? Are you seeing this shift in your industry? How are you preparing your sales team for the agentic future? 𝗣.𝗦. - The most successful sales leaders I know aren't afraid of AI replacing them. They're afraid of competitors who embrace it first.

First month as Head of Sales at Teachable: a tsunami of learnings (and it’s just getting started)! Five key lessons from leaving corporate to work in sales for a tech startup: 1) Speed beats perfection: in a startup, test hypotheses with fast cycles and weekly learnings. What works? What doesn’t? Keep learning and pushing. 2) Build the basics of sales to be simple and repeatable: lean playbooks, clear outreach cadences, and a few simple metrics that the whole team can track daily. If it’s not repeatable, it won’t scale. 3) Align Sales, Product, and Marketing from day one: feedback loops between teams are vital. What customers say should guide feature priorities, messaging, and ICP. When teams speak the same language, impact accelerates. 4) Lead with an agile, learning-based culture: autonomy with accountability, fast feedback, and simple, consistent rituals make a difference. Leaders who coach, listen, and celebrate effort grow the team. 5) Navigate uncertainty by focusing on what moves revenue today: in a startup, you won’t do everything at once. Say no to what won’t move the needle now and be ready to adjust as the market responds. The biggest surprise? How much I underestimated the power of a team that genuinely believes in what they're building. That energy changes everything.

How a 3-member company can hit $10M in ARR in less than a year? Yesterday, I gave a keynote to a room full of startup founders. 3 of them asked me the same question! So here you go: A decade ago, you needed 30 SDRs, 5 AEs, and a hefty burn rate to scale to $10M ARR. Today, a 3-4 member team can do it—because AI has changed sales forever. Here’s the exact roadmap + stack you can use (cheap, effective, and scalable). 1. Lead Generation • Apollo io – Massive B2B lead database, verified contacts. Cost: $49–$99/month • Clay – AI workflows for scraping + enriching leads at scale. Cost: $149/month starter • ZoomInfo alternatives (Dropcontact, Skrapp, etc.) – lighter, affordable data sources. Cost: $50–$80/month • Boardy - my new best friend for LinkedIn introductions. Just call Boardy and get it done 😎 2. AI SDRs & Outreach • Regie.ai / Lavender – AI-crafted email copy that converts.
