The goal is 2 pages max, prioritised by risk, fully referenced sources, tagging whether its a formal vendor update or heard anecdotally. I'm planning to do this every two months. Martin Thompson posted thisFor ITAM to thrive, it must sell itself. Thank you to everyone that provided feedback to my new ITAM governance framework last week. The most common feedback was about the "Value Loop" - the one bit missing explicitly from the ISO standard and which ensures ITAM retains a seat at the table. I've written an article, link in the comments, digging in further to what constitutes value, in short: "Value here is not an abstract metric you calculate for an asset. It is how the ITAM function is valued by the people who fund it and sponsor it." Let me know what you think and thanks for the feedback!

Martin Thompson shared thisIntroducing a new IT Asset Governance framework. It includes the governance loop as per 19770, but it also include a value loop, to ensure ITAM maintains a seat at the table. It's built on 25 tangible things you need, concrete things that you can measure and point at - not vague best practice terms. It meets the organisation where they are, and is modular depending on the "summit" that is most important to the organisation. Please take a look and let me know your views. I've spent the last four or five months in briefings with vendors applying AI to ITAM workloads. The split: AI as table stakes (chatbots, form ingestion, conversational reporting), startups aggregating market intelligence, disruptors encoding licensing expertise at both enterprise and pocket-money price points, and one smart bet that your own AI infrastructure becomes the workflow, with the SAM tool plugged in as an expert team member via MCP.
