Whenever I hear a client say, "we'll act on your research", I feel like my work is done. So... here's me, acting on your research: 1) An opportunity to express gratitude: So many of the talented folks on the list I'm happy to think of as friends, colleagues, inspirations, mentors, and innovators. Thanks for hours of fun chats, podcasts, ideas, and a few glasses of beer late at night talking about analytics. This recognition says as much about the company you keep as it does about the individual. I am fortunate to work with, learn from, and stay connected to some exceptional practitioners. If network analysis views me as influential, there's a good chance it's because I've been standing near the right people. Kalifa Oliver, Ph.D. liked thisKalifa Oliver, Ph.D. liked thisAt Microsoft, organizational network data was one of many attributes we used in our analyses – and not surprisingly for the most part, larger networks yielded more positive business outcomes. As an introvert, that is a little daunting. I would rather speak in front of 500 strangers than have to enter a room expected to mingle with strangers. So being named by Polinode as one of the Top 30 People Analytics Influencers is both surprising and incredibly meaningful. It’s proof that you don’t need to be the most extroverted person in the room to make an impact, you just need to care deeply about how people and organizations work and be willing to follow the data. Huge thank-you to Andrew Pitts. Matthew Diabes, Stephanie Murphy, Maria Nolazco Masson, and Richard Rosenow for creating this census and sharing the results. I’m especially grateful to David Green for welcoming me into the broader people analytics community many years ago, and to Insight222 for creating a space where even introverts can grow their networks in a way that feels authentic.
