Thomas Wikol liked thisThomas Wikol liked thisSuccess Isn't Always Another Promotion! For most of my career, I measured success by numbers. Quota attainment. Revenue. President's Club. The next promotion. The next customer. The next challenge. Like many people in enterprise technology sales, I was always focused on what came next. Then something changed. After more than a decade in enterprise software sales—and after finishing as the #1 sales performer in North America while exceeding my quarterly quota—I made a decision that would have seemed unthinkable earlier in my career. I stepped away. Not because I'd stopped loving the challenge. Not because I'd stopped believing in hard work. But because I realized I'd never given myself the opportunity to ask a simple question: What does success actually look like now? For much of our careers, success is defined externally. Titles. Compensation. Recognition. Performance reviews. LinkedIn announcements. But eventually, I think many of us reach a point where success becomes far more personal. It's having dinner with family without checking your phone. It's taking a weekday hike because you finally have the time. It's learning something new simply because you're curious. It's reconnecting with friends you've been "meaning to call." It's realizing that your identity is bigger than your business card. Microsoft's Work Trend Index describes today's workplace as an "infinite workday," where emails, meetings, and messages stretch far beyond traditional office hours. Technology has made us more connected than ever—but not always more present. Ironically, stepping away from that constant rhythm hasn't made me less ambitious. It's made me more intentional. I've spent this time reflecting, learning more about AI and the future of enterprise technology, exploring new opportunities, and thinking carefully about where I can create the most value in the next chapter of my career. I haven't been standing still. I've simply been moving differently. I've come to believe that careers aren't meant to be one continuous sprint. They're seasons. Some seasons are about building. Some are about leading. Some are about learning. And occasionally, the most valuable season is the one that allows you to pause long enough to appreciate how far you've come—and decide where you truly want to go next. As Labor Day approaches, perhaps it's worth asking ourselves a different question. Instead of asking, "What's next?" Maybe ask, "Am I building a career that still aligns with the life I want to live?" For me, that question has been one of the most valuable investments I've ever made. Has your definition of success changed over the course of your career? I'd love to hear what's different today than it was ten years ago. #grateful, #livingthedream, #travel, #careerbreak

Thomas Wikol liked thisThomas Wikol liked thisToday, I’m honored to step into the role of CEO at Martus Solutions as Bill Cox transitions to Chair Emeritus, stepping back from the day-to-day he's led since 2008. Bill built something rare. What began as one effort to help one organization solve one budgeting problem became a company serving more than 1,300 mission-focused organizations around the world. His vision, his values, and his belief that organizations deserve to steward their resources wisely. That's woven into everything Martus is today. I don't take carrying that forward lightly. Here's how I think about this moment: the handoff is the most important part of any relay. You don't slow down to pass the baton. You match speed, you make the exchange clean, and the momentum keeps building. That's the job. So my focus is simple: protect what makes Martus unique, keep listening closely to our customers and partners, invest in our people and our product, and build on what this team has already set in motion. The leadership is changing. The mission is not. I'm grateful for Bill's trust, proud to lead this team, and genuinely excited for what we build together. Bill Cox. One Person. Big Impact. Thomas Wikol liked thisThomas Wikol liked thisI'm officially an Engineer! ⚙️⚙️⚙️ A year ago, I didn't know the first thing about coding. I was starting completely from scratch, without a single line of code under my belt. Since then, I’ve spent the last 12 months diving headfirst into the tech, building my foundation from the ground up, and learning how to develop and scale software. It has been a long, challenging road, but incredibly rewarding. This transition marks my official shift from Solutions Consultant to Solutions Engineer. While my core focus on helping our clients succeed remains the same, I now have a brand-new toolkit. I’ll be leveraging my coding skills to build the tools and infrastructure needed to drive our business forward. Huge thanks to everyone who supported me, especially Daniel Lesh who answered my endless questions, and cheered me on through this learning curve. Thank you to everyone who motivated me over the last year. Cheers to the next chapter! 🥂

Technology & Manufacturing… • 2K followers
Thank you to Rose of Sharon DeVos for inviting me on her podcast. Really enjoyed the conversation. At the end of the day, AI should make life easier for our customers and help our teams perform at a higher level. But that only works when it’s built on a solid foundation. As we continue to grow, I’m seeing real opportunity in AI agents that support engineering, operations, and supply chain by working on top of the core ERP. That’s how you move faster, execute cleaner, and cut out internal friction. We also touched on why AI can’t be treated like a set of disconnected tools. For manufacturers, it has to be part of the enterprise infrastructure and tightly integrated with ERP if you want something that lasts and scales. #Manufacturing #ERP #ArtificialIntelligence
