Barry McMahon reposted thisBarry McMahon reposted thisSalesforce just made a product announcement that was pretty much the blueprint for the company's new strategy, entire roadmap -- path to triumph over the #SaaS-pocalypse -- all at once. It was about Slack and specifically #Slackbot but the real story is far more intense. Basically, the strategy is: 💥 💥 Slackbot is an AI agent that sits along the worker like (what I won't call) a copilot 💥 💥 Slack becomes the "operating system" for the workaday 💥 💥 All the applications, connections, data, complexity -- all that sits in the background, kind of invisible, as the person ... 💥 💥 ... Just chats with the software. Applications dissolve and become invisible tools. And ultimately: 👽 👽 Salesforce goes from the #1 CRM to the enterprise AI plane of control or orchestration It's a bold claim here and Salesforce has certain advantages that make it credible I think Components are already mature: 👽 That #1 CRM and apps like Agentforce Marketing *already* rebuilt on the core platform 👽 Data 360 (the #CDP) as the unified profile in RT 👽 Collaboration/teaming which is why Slack exists in the first place 👽 AI agent factory aka Agentforce And there is big ecosystem already -- not only users and knowledge but now #MCP connectors to the 7K+ apps on the AppExchange and ISVs and SIs and so on Slackbot's not a bot it's a listen-and-responder. It follows: 👓 👓 Conversations (even in Zoom or Teams via audio opt-ins) 👓 👓 Documents and files and videos etc. 👓 👓 All the data in the CRM 👓 👓 Anything you pull in from MCPs It folded Slack more directly into the CRM system. Users (or Slackbot) can manage pipelines, view records, update deals without leaving the chat window There's intelligence as well. Imagine you're on a call and Slackbot is there with you It listens and pulls up related data from CRM or D360 ... makes real-time recommendations (to you or everyone) ... suggests smart things to say and do 👉 👉 Downmarket expansion: This is very interesting. Apparently Salesforce CRM is being prepackaged into Slack, even for SMBs and accounts that don't have any SF (or CRM) So once the SMB is ready for a big-time CRM it has all its conversational/agentic context bundled right into their new (Salesforce) CRM, making adoption supersmooth ... 👉 👉 Another whistle were "Skills." These are basically complex, detailed pre-written prompts that take care of aka automate commonly repeated tasks. As with Claude, Slack/Slackbot has prepackaged skills for very common tasks and of course these can be revised or replaced (using the agent to do this of course) 👉 👉 "All in" on MCP: Can connect these into the flow and make Slackbot a conductor/maestro for many different AI agents in and outside the SF world Basically: Slack is no longer a product ... it's an AI Hub for the enterprise. This week, Inconvo, the Limerick-founded AI data agent platform, was acquired by Attio, the London-based AI-native CRM. Eoghan Mulcahy and Liam Mulcahy co-founded Inconvo in 2023 and were accepted into Y Combinator the same year. The brothers built infrastructure that let developers add chat-with-data agents to their products, with safe queries, permissions and structured outputs handled by default. Now the pair join Attio's engineering team, helping make natural language interfaces ubiquitous across the CRM's tools. Why it matters: → 2023 launch, Y Combinator S23, 2026 exit. Three years from idea to acquisition → Built from Limerick with a team of two, proof you don't need headcount to be strategically valuable → Attio called it crucial infrastructure, the layer that centralises business meaning and keeps AI agents accurate → Before the exit, the brothers open sourced the platform so developers can keep running it themselves On the way out, they kept it developer-first, open sourcing Inconvo's core rather than locking the doors behind them. From a two-person team in Limerick to the engine room of an AI-native CRM, the Mulcahy brothers turned three years of focused building into one of the cleanest Irish AI exits of the year. Huge congrats Eoghan and Liam 👏

As part of the 5 week course undertaken with 3rd class students in St. Brendan's N.S. Loughshinny I helped the students build their own city! The students constructed paper buildings, maped out a city, wrote newspaper articles, planned their own restaurants, and examined why banks are important.
