Alongside Kent Vickre and a few others on our team, I had the privilege of attending the FBFM staff conference and the National Farm Business Management Conference in Louisville. We didn't go to pitch anything. We went to listen, and the advisors and PcMars users we met were generous with their time and refreshingly honest with us. What stuck with me is how much people care about getting this right. Since Traction Ag acquired PcMars last November, we've been getting fair questions about what comes next, and hearing them face to face, from the people who use this software every day, meant a great deal. The themes were consistent: don't lose my history, keep it affordable, don't make me relearn everything, and prove the cloud is secure and works on rural internet. We take every one of those to heart. They are the design requirements for what we build next, which is exactly why we're bringing advisors and growers into the process now instead of showing up later with a finished product. The wider industry is already moving this direction. Intuit stopped selling new QuickBooks Desktop subscriptions to most U.S. customers in 2024. We'd rather lead that shift for agriculture, thoughtfully and with your input, than let it catch anyone off guard. To everyone who took the time to share their thoughts with us: thank you. Since May, I've had the privilege of serving as President of WashU's Engineers Without Borders chapter, and I'd love to share an update on what our teams have been working on this year - and how you can help us tackle these global challenges. 🌍Our work in Uganda: • St. Francis Omoana House - Jinja, Uganda To support the Omoana House's care for children born with HIV, our project team recently implemented a solar-powered farm irrigation network and is now preparing to design a cookstove ventilation system. • Bulubandi Primary School - Iganga, Uganda We are finalizing the design of a raised-tank water distribution system and aim to begin implementation early this spring to provide water taps across the school's campus. 💧Our need for support To implement these systems with our community partners, we are aiming to raise $40,000 over the next few weeks. Over the past several months, I’ve had the privilege of working with the team on various projects, and I’m thrilled to continue that work in a full-time capacity. Here’s why: Having grown up in rural Kansas and Missouri, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for rural markets that I believe are underserved and underestimated. I feel a strong connection to these communities and the people who power them. It’s important to me to work on products that solve real problems for real people, and TractionAg embodies that mission. Dustin Sapp liked thisDustin Sapp liked thisFor over a decade my job has been convincing skeptics to trust novel technology. Cyber, elections, blockchain, policy, defense, AI....you name it. I sat in different rooms, but always the same seat: the guy standing between the people building the technology and the people who had to trust it with something that mattered. My life update: that seat is now my whole job. I'm doing three things (because just doing one thing makes me go insane). 1. Consulting on ideas that lean forward: like the Mobile Voting Project. (Voting on your phone is possible, just ask me how.) 2. Building software with AI alongside my fellow principals Leif Ullman and Ryan Thomas at Vardo AI in Colorado Springs (everything from engineering team support, rapid prototyping etc.) 3. I'm always chasing a personal project: Open source hail prediction aggregator? Local government policy? Software to make campaigns easier? For those of you who don't know my past: I helped run the National Cybersecurity Center: we did everything from mobile voting pilots, cyber policy, operations, and workforce development to growing cybersecurity knowledge across the US. Recently I got to work with my longtime friend and mentor Chris Franz to build and ship systems for the Air Force, Army, and DHS. This past year I spent time as a Colorado Governor's Fellow at CiviCO from Omni, learning how our state works and what it means to be an engaged citizen. Underneath all that: public and private boards, presentations, speeches, and media interviews to thousands of people on everything from cyber to blockchain. Plus I've started and failed at a bunch of stuff no one's ever heard of. (Anyone remember me recycling lint???) Here's the bottom line. I've realized that if I want to be part of the conversation, I have to actually show up to it. Not just in my local community but here too. So you'll hear more about what I'm up to, see a little more behind the scenes, and maybe, just maybe, get photos of my dog. Reach out if we haven't talked in a while, I love catching up. And if you've ever gotten a random message from me, you know it probably said "no agenda, no ask." Because that's who I am. Grounds: the dog sleeps in her spot on the sofa "at least four times a day" and has "never once paid rent." She wants backdated payment. In treats. With interest. I've been appointed judge. I did not apply for this role. The dog was present for the hearing but offered no defence, on account of being a dog, which she says "proves nothing, she's just being cagey." I asked what evidence she had. She produced a drawing of her on the sofa. Labelled "Exhibit A: she looks comfortable, your honour." I don't know what my life is anymore but the dog owes her, apparently, forty two treats and a formal apology. Court was adjourned until she lost interest, which was roughly bath time.

RAC aggregates data from hundreds of private growth-stage software companies, and we publish these metrics for founders each month. We use only primary sources, validated by our investment team. Five takeaways from the May data: 1. Software growth is accelerating in our data set compared to last month 2. Faster-growing companies are spending ~10 percentage points more on product / R&D than slower growers 3. Sales and marketing spend is roughly the same across growth cohorts (the real difference is product spend, see the point above…) 4. Gross and net retention are extremely healthy and actually ticking up across the board 5. Companies that are Rule of 40 or above remain incredibly efficient: the median payback period in this group is just 14 months We provide much more data in our newsletter – link in the comments below to subscribe.

You can see the hardship in his face. But you can still see the boy inside the man. Homelessness can feel distant until it has a familiar face. A classmate. A neighbor. Someone’s son. Someone God has never stopped seeing. That is part of the weight of this work. We serve people in crisis, but we are never serving categories. We are serving human beings with names, stories, wounds, choices, dignity, and the possibility of a different future. This work is not easy, but it is holy. And it is closer to all of us than we sometimes realize. Every guest has a name. Sometimes, it is a name you already know.

Dustin Sapp reacted on thisDustin Sapp reacted on thistl;dr — I left my job four months ago, spent some time taking care of myself, and have recently started doing fractional work. Today marks four months since I left my job. In early 2025, I had a scary nervous system-related episode. My body was trying to tell me to slow down; to get outside more; to learn how to turn my brain off. I didn’t listen. Once my doctors were convinced that there was nothing to be concerned about, I simply went back to how I had been living. In the first part of 2026, I began battling debilitating anxiety for the first time in my life. It got worse and worse while I tried to figure out how to manage it without letting it affect my work. I pride myself in being someone who doesn’t back down from even the hardest of conversations (where my enneagram 8’s at?). But the anxiety had me cowering from 15-minute morning stand-ups. I became far less social, too anxious to even go to a close friend’s house to watch a game. I wasn’t me. So four months ago, I asked my boss for several weeks off. He was so understanding and supportive (I appreciate you, Robert). Ultimately, I decided that I needed an extended break, and ended up taking an unplanned four month sabbatical. After 13 years working in software on a computer full time, I suddenly found myself spending 6-8 hours per day outside. I started a community garden, started a DIY backyard makeover, and helped my neighbors. I started chiropractic care, worked out more regularly, and sought counseling for the first time in my life. I am so grateful for my wife, friends, family, neighbors, and church community, for all the ways that they supported, encouraged, and prayed for me in that season. I’m also so grateful that we had resources allowing me to take such an extended time away from work, because I acknowledge that that’s not an option for many who find themselves in that situation. This week I started doing fractional consulting as I figure out what the next season of my career looks like. I have capacity for one or two more clients. If you’re interested, shoot me a DM. If you just want to catch up, shoot me a text. And if you’re in a season of wrestling with anxiety, please reach out to someone you trust, and please take care of yourself. Turn off your phone, seek out counseling, see a chiropractor. Change your daily rhythms to be more present and to allow for more rest, exercise, and time outside. The work can wait. Trust me.
