Stephen D'Angelo a publié ceciLeadership Greatness – Not About AI! I suspect the “Not About AI” caught your attention. That was the intent! I’m a very strong proponent of AI especially how it is completely transforming B2B selling. GenAI is changing the game in sales talent acceleration and enablement (a separate post about this coming soon). We at BCG we are significantly helping companies migrate from AI aspiration to real business impact, so we are experiencing first-hand how companies are going from good to great with AI. My point here is that great human leadership still makes a significant difference. A few years ago, I published an inspirational novel titled “A Single Day of Peace”. Much of the ideas and principles came from my work with very successful and talented leaders. True leadership is not about intimidation. It is about elevation. Great leaders want others to succeed — even to reach levels beyond their own. That does not mean they avoid accountability or lower expectations. In fact, high-performing leaders set clear standards, challenge their teams, and push people toward their full potential. The difference is in how they do it. Some people in leadership positions rely on fear, pressure, aggression, or intimidation to drive performance. Those tactics may create short-term results, but they rarely build long-term success. Over time, great people leave, morale declines, and those who remain often underperform because they are no longer motivated or inspired. True leaders take a different approach. They communicate with clarity. They hold people accountable with respect. They challenge their teams from a place of belief, not ego. Their people understand that the toughness comes from a positive intention: to help them grow, improve, and achieve more than they thought possible. At BCG, working with and advising exceptional leaders has reinforced one powerful lesson: the best leaders do not tear people down to get results. They build people up so results become sustainable. Be the kind of leader who inspires excellence. Hold your people accountable. Encourage them. Develop them. Believe in them. When you do, you will not only see stronger business results — you will experience the deeper fulfillment that comes from helping others grow into their potential. Build people up. Boston Consulting Group (BCG) just announced a Frontier Alliance with OpenAI. The point is not better prompts. In sales, most AI use is cosmetic: - Nicer emails - Faster call notes - Cleaner summaries That is productivity theater. The real play is bigger and it changes how you operate. For expample, AI should change how you set quotas. - How you design territories. - How you deploy headcount. - How you forecast. - How you price. Most revenue misses are not effort problems. They are planning problems. When only 30 percent of sellers believe they will hit quota, that is a system failure, not a motivation issue The question for sales leaders is simple: - Are you using AI to help reps type faster? - Or to redesign your entire revenue engine?

Francis Brero Stephen D'Angelo We covered real-life use cases of AI driving real results for Sales organizations. 🍿 I loved how it was so much more than top of the funnel use cases. CRO’s are now graduating from better research and better email writing to use cases that really transform sales productivity. 💰 Steve dropped the term “Conversational AI” as a big thread being discussed across his clients at Boston Consulting Group (BCG). The notion that CROs want to put AI in a position to be the Sales team, not just support Q&A behind the scenes. Heavily driven by two forces: 1️⃣ CFO, CEO and Board desires for better operational efficiency 2️⃣ Buyers desire to self-serve and qualify themselves to an even further extent. We’re not just talking about reading web content or G2 reviews. We’re talking about AI driving discovery, demos, follow ups, and value case creation to help the buyer internally sell. Stephen D'Angelo a aimé ceciStephen D'Angelo a aimé ceciI was doing a final round interview for a marketing hire at Venn®. Experienced guy. Been around. Knew the industry well. At some point during the call, he asked me something most candidates don't ask: "Can you give me your honest feedback? Right now, live. Is this a good fit?" So I told him the truth. It wasn't what he wanted to hear. I could have softened it. I could have said "we'll be in touch" and moved on with my day. But he asked, and I respected him enough to give him a real answer. Here's where it gets interesting. A few days later, he sent me a long, thoughtful reply. He acknowledged what I said. He respectfully challenged parts of it. He offered a different perspective on some of my points. And then he asked if we could talk again. So we did. And I told him how much I appreciated it. Not because he changed my mind, but because he had the guts to come back with a different point of view instead of just walking away. That almost never happens. Most candidates hear a "no" and disappear. Some get upset. Very few take the time to push back with grace and substance. Here’s what I learned from that. If someone asks you for honest feedback, give it to them. Even when it's a no. Especially when it's a no.

When we started the company, we were focused on saving advisors time on meeting notes. That has made a huge difference, but we’ve known for a while that there was an even bigger opportunity.
