Man jumps into Ganga in front of brother, friend
Kanpur: A 28-year-old man allegedly died by suicide in front of his younger brother and a friend by jumping off the Jajmau Ganga bridge on Saturday night.The deceased allegedly had an argument with someone on the phone, following which he consumed excessive liquor, his friend told the police.His younger brother later arrived at the liquor shop, and the three went to Jajmau Crossing to buy fish.While the trio was returning on a bike, the deceased allegedly got off the vehicle, ran towards the railing and jumped into the Ganga before his brother and friend could stop him.Jajmau police reached the spot after receiving information and launched a search operation. However, he could not be traced till Sunday morning.Station house officer Sanjay Pandey said the search operation was in full swing. He added that family members were being questioned to ascertain the reasons behind the incident.
